I went to Nova Scotia

and all we got was an ear infection and a lot of mosquito bites

How many people do you actually know who have been to Nova Scotia? Exactly. This was the reason I decided to pack my stuff into storage, and set sail through Canada for two months. I had joked around with a friend almost 10 years ago at this point, how we should just pack a car with our dogs and drive to Halifax, so I did just that. Suffice it to say, this road trip has been on my mind for a while.

The end of a relationship marked quite a few things for me. It meant moving into a new apartment, becoming a single (dog) dad, and figuring out what works for me and what doesn't. I thought I probably wouldn't have the opportunity to take a northern Canada road trip with my dog for a while so I'd better seize the opportunity. For 2 months, Mister and I traveled from NYC to Lake Placid > Montreal > Val David > Quebec City > Halifax > Baddeck > New Brunswick > Portland > Epsom > Shandaken. We racked up 3,592 total miles in our Hyundai, picked up a foldable kayak along the way, an ear infection for Mister (he's fine by the way), some new tattoos, and learned a little bit about each other and ourselves. I could say a lot more about the trip, where we went and what we did, and how much car caraoke I did, but I think it would be better if I just shared a few pics instead.

If you have the opportunity, I'd recommend making the time and taking a road trip. Maybe not necessarily to Nova Scotia, but definitely to northern Canada. There's a lot more adventure and sights to see than there are bears.
